The ‘Done > Perfect’ Rule
Vol.02 No.07
It was the early-20th century. Cigar smoke billowed through the air as some old dude in the UK leaned back in his brown leather La-Z-Boy, took another draw through his Dominican wrapped Churchill, and said:
"Perfection is the enemy of progress."
And he had a point. (Ol’ Winston that is. Hence the Churchill he was smoking. Anyway….)
Because full transparency... I didn’t have time to write the article I wanted to this week.
So I took a shortcut.
That shortcut? ChatGPT.

Does that make this week's issue worse?
I don’t think so. I still put thought into it. I still made sure it was useful. I just didn’t overthink it (too much at least). And I still edited like crazy.
The whole point is:
Done Beats Perfect—Every Time
Stop thinking everything needs to be perfect all the time. << Me talking to myself here
It's common to hesitate when starting a new project, waiting for the perfect moment.
Second-guess decisions, revising endlessly instead of moving forward.
Spending so much time planning that we never actually do the thing.
Meanwhile, the people who just start—who take action even when it’s not flawless—are the ones actually making progress.
So as long as you get it about 80% there (maybe even less, honestly). Do it.
Because done beats perfect.
Every. Single. Time.
Repetition = Progress
Worried about not getting it right the first time? Thinking people will judge you?
Here’s the truth: no one is paying as much attention as you think.
People are busy. They forget. They move on.
That’s why consistent action is what actually builds success.
The more you show up, the more progress you make. And the ones who keep moving forward—even with imperfect steps—are the ones who win.
So even if your attempt isn’t groundbreaking… even if your effort isn’t flawless… even if your first try isn’t perfect…
If it moves you forward, it’s doing its job.
So take the next step. Keep moving. And win.
The most successful people aren’t the smartest, the most talented, or the most perfect.
They’re the ones who refuse to sit still.
Keep taking action, even when it’s messy.
That's how you win.
See ya next week,
Taylor Coffin
