The 3 biggest mistakes keeping your small business hidden on google
Fix these 3 mistakes or keep losing leads.
You ever search for a plumber, chiropractor, or mechanic and just… pick one randomly?
Doubt it.
Think about what made you choose them.
Did you see an ad and click immediately? Maybe.
Did you check their Instagram page? Probably not.
Did you Google them, look at their reviews, and pick the one that seemed the most legit?
Bingo.
Because that’s exactly what your customers are doing too.
They type in “[your service] near me” and pick a business that:
Shows up at the top
Has solid reviews
Looks like a real, trustworthy business
That’s it. That’s the game.
And sure, ads can work if you have the budget. But most businesses are just scraping by.
But here’s the key difference between businesses that thrive and those that struggle:
The businesses that win aren’t relying on just one thing.
They show up organically, have trust-building reviews, and convert searchers into customers with a strong online presence.
Here’s what actually moves the needle:
Google Business Profile (GBP) – Your #1 ranking factor for local searches.
Reviews – The first thing customers check before calling. Directly ties into ranking your GBP.
A website that actually converts – Because getting traffic is useless if no one takes action.
And please for the love of all that’s holy, don’t link your GBP to your Facebook page or a broken website. I see this wayyyy to often. Take a few minutes to at least create a simple lead capture page to direct traffic to.
If you’re running ads but ignoring these three things—you’re probably paying more than you should to get leads.
And if you’re not running ads and ignoring these three things? Well, you’re losing a lot of customers before you even get a chance to talk to them.
More on this tomorrow.

P.S. Quick challenge—Google “[your service] near me” right now.
Do you like where your business shows up?
If not, tomorrow’s email is for you.
